Who we are
Welcome to Holy Grounds Brew Temple, where history, community, and great coffee come together.
Holy Grounds Brew Temple was created with one simple vision: to build a space that feels like home while honoring the history that came before us.
Located in the heart of Centralia at 200 S. King Street, our name pays homage to the building’s past as a former synagogue. This beautifully restored 100-year-old space has been thoughtfully renovated to preserve its character while creating something new a warm, welcoming gathering place for our community.
For co-owner James, this business is deeply personal. He grew up in Hoquiam, but spent many summers in Centralia visiting his aunt, a beloved teacher at Centralia High School affectionately known as Mrs. E.
Weekends were often spent exploring Lewis County with family, where he came to love the charm of small-town life paired with the opportunities and spirit of a larger community. Those early memories created a lifelong connection to the area and a dream that one day he would return, own a business here, and eventually call this community home.
Co-owners James and Kim opened Holy Grounds with a desire to do something different. After more than 20 years owning J & J Extreme Auto Body, James was ready to create a space centered around connection and conversation. Kim, a longtime tribal health director, has always believed in building strong, healthy communities. Together, they spent a year and a half renovating the building listening to neighbors, shaping the space around what Centralia wanted, and intentionally creating an atmosphere where people can gather, relax, study, celebrate, and truly feel like they belong.
Their journey officially began with a soft opening on November 12, following a year of dedicated weekend renovations to the former Kings Cove coffee house and event center, as well as Jimmy’s at the Cove.
Today, Holy Grounds Brew Temple offers handcrafted espresso drinks, teas, smoothies, breakfast and lunch items, pizza by the slice or whole pie, and beer and wine. With new hours of 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, the focus is shifting to afternoons and evenings together whether you’re meeting friends after work, enjoying pizza and drinks, studying, hosting a business conversation, or simply relaxing in a welcoming space.
Upstairs, The Temple Event Center provides a distinctive 2,040 sq ft venue with seating for up to 100 guests (160 maximum capacity). Featuring a stage, Wi-Fi, bridal room, and elegant chandeliers, it’s an ideal setting for weddings, conferences, music events, community celebrations, and wellness activities. The space is also currently home to yoga classes, continuing our vision of creating a place where people can gather, recharge, and connect.
Most importantly, our success comes from investing in our community. We believe in building relationships, and creating a space that grows alongside the people who walk through our doors.
At Holy Grounds Brew Temple, coming to work doesn’t feel like work it feels like welcoming friends home.
We’re glad you’re here. ☕
Why We Do What We Do
“After working in the auto repair business for over 20 years, I am happy to say that coming to work here at the coffee shop every day does not feel like work.
I enjoy socializing with new customers and getting excited to see them return.”
— James

We’re creating connection.
We’re honoring history.
